The first farms were established by European settlers at Mulgrave Place (the Hawkesbury District) in 1794. After 1800, this area was referred to as Bardonarang, and is now known as Pitt Town Bottoms. The bottoms refers to the area of land next to the Hawkesbury River below the town of Pitt Town.
