‘The usual meeting was held at the Church Hall on Thursday night, Nov 20th. Mr J Farlow, (President) occupied the chair. A letter was read from Mr Brinsley Hall, M P stating a gang of men would be put to work shortly to make the necessary alterations to Cobcroft’s Hill, Wilberforce. Great satisfaction is expressed at this notification. It was agreed that a letter should be sent to the Minister for Works, through Mr Hall asking for a grant of £40 to put the road in order from Greentree’s Corner to Nicholls’s Gate, as some parts of it are in a very bad state. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of congratulation to Mr Uriah Woods, assistant secretary, on his recent marriage. This concluded the business of the evening, and the meeting then closed. A special meeting of the building committee of the School of Arts was afterwards held.’ Please make your comment below.
