Enters Cowan Creek at Bobbin Head. It is named as Gibberagong Creek on several maps. Reed gives Gibberagong as meaning “plenty of rocks”. In the mid-19th Century shell beds, especially those comprised of Aboriginal middens, were harvested and burnt to produce lime which was then shipped to Sydney to be used as mortar.
