Cockroach Alley

The vicinity of “Cockroach Alley” was the scene of a great disturbance at a late hour on Sunday night. The cries of children aroused the neighbours of an individual who in contemptible cowardice assaulted the woman whom he wedded to make home the paradise it should be. The heads of neighbouring families interferred and threatened “his nibs” with the greatest trouncing he ever received if he did not desist. Finally he got as good a “hiding” as any man ever got, and it is to be hoped it will be a lesson to him'.
