A locality on the north side of the Cumberland Reach of the Hawkesbury River. Located about 3 km south of Lower Portland and 2 km north of Sackville. Boundaries within the Hawkesbury Council area shown on map GNB 3716.
Cumberland Reach was known as Boston’s Reach during the early part of the 19th century after John Boston (died 1804) who arrived in the colony in 1794 and was granted 170 acres in the vicinity in 1796, later settler William Knight had a farm in the area which he called Knight’s Retreat.
