Before the church was constructed it is said that services were held under a large Eucalypt tree oposite the church from about 1803. The tree was severely damaged by a wild storm which hit the Wilberforce/Ebenezer area on Friday 16 December 2005 leaving only one branch remaining.
Rev Hassall, from the London Missionary Association conducted services at Ebenezer Mount from 1804, Ebenezer Church opened on the site in 1809, built by volunteer labour as an inter-denominational place of worship.
