Mr W H Dean’s property known as Fairy Farm caught fire on Wednesday, but after a few hours’ hard work by Mr Dean, the men of the place, and others, the flames were checked. The fire started in a strange way. Last Sunday week a husge tree on the farm was struck by lightning and ignited; it has been smouldering ever since and on Wednesday the top fell, and set fire to the grass. Strangely enough several persons had been under the tree and in its vicinity, but no one noticed it was burning.'
