Hawkesbury People & Places Glenroy is located at 465 George Street, South Windsor New South Wales. Glenroy is a substantial and externally intact late Victorian suburban villa. With its spacious planning including billiard room and ballroom, it demonstrates the character of a well to do lifestyle on the outskirts of a small country town in the late nineteenth century. Glenroy is also listed as a place of local heritage significance on the NSW State Heritage Inventory Glenroy was the home of Richard Cobcroft (son of George Cobcroft of Wilberforce) who married Gertrude Bushell in 1880. Cobcroft purchased George Carroll’s Newtown Tannery at South Windsor in 1886 and the business flourished employing 25 men and boys by 1900. Obituary of Richard Cobcroft.
