Hawkesbury People & Places Greenfield Place is located in Maraylya, New South Wales and runs in a northerly direction from the intersection with Whitmore Road. The route of the road is partly on Portion 205, Parish of Pitt Town, County of Cumberland which was a Conditional Purchase block applied for by Pitt Town farmer James Alexander Greenfield in July 1894 (Volume 2564 Folio 35). Greenfield served on the committee of the Hawkesbury Benevolent Society and Hospital for several years. The land around Greenfield Place was subdivided in the 1970s and the road was named after Greenfield because of the family’s association with the place. For many years J A Greenfield was the stock poundkeeper at Pitt Town. He died in March 1943 aged 83 years and was buried in the Church of England Cemetery, Pitt Town of which he was a trustee for many years.
