The monthly meeting of the above club was held at the residence of Mr J J Paine, J P, (Mayor of Windsor) on Monday 13th inst, when Mr G F Robinson, B A, who had come from Sydney at the invitation of the club, opened a discussion on “some interesting features of the early postage stamps of New South Wales, with special reference to the embossed wrapper of 1838”. After referring at some length to the circumstances which lead to New South Wales adopting the stamped letter-sheet, as a means of prepaying postage (which was formerly collected on delivery), thus anticipating the United Kingdom, and all other countries'.
