Hawkesbury People & Places Land surrounding the ‘Hobartville Estate’ once owned by William Cox (the 2nd) and originally granted to Edward Luttrell in 1804 was subdivided to form the new suburb of Hobartville in 1966. The streets were named after members of the Cox family, principals from Hawkesbury Agricultural College and the names of racehorses bred on the estate as well as other names drawn from the history of the district. Advertisment in the Windsor & Richmond Gazette for blocks of land at Hobartville. Features included 256 acres of land, 1,000 homesites, full price from $1,750 with $50 deposit, primary school, high school, playing fields, olympic pool, shopping centre, electricity, water and sewerage. “fresh-air family living”.
