Hawkesbury People & Places Located at 58 Old Bells Line of Road, Kurrajong, New South Wales. The hall was constructed in 1952 as the Kurrajong District War Memorial Club (Kurrajong RSL) but was later purchased by the Country Women’s Association (CWA) and continues to be a popular venue for local functions and events. The CWA also continues to meet in the hall and the association is firmly established as part of the fabric of the vibrant Kurrajong community. The Kurrajong Branch of the CWA held its first fund raising function in Hart’s Hall, a dance and euchre party in April 1928. The hall was originally constructed with the help of public donations for the RSL as Kurrajong District War Memorial Club in 1952 and opened the following March. It seems that the RSL failed to obtain a liquor licence for the hall. Subsequently, in October 1956 the local branch of the CWA commenced negotiations for the purchase of the building. It is constructed of Clark’s Concrete Bricks which were made by Bill Clark from the late 1940s at a site known as The Crusher on the bank of the Hawkesbury River near Yarramundi Lane.
