Macquarie stopped at the summit of Kurry Jung Hill (now called bellbird Hill) near present day Kurrajong Heights and noted that he could see as far as Green Hills. Kurry Jung Hill was named Mount Maurice by Andrew Thompson as a compliment to Lt Col O’Connell.
