Hawkesbury People & Places Leets Vale is a small settlement situated on the north and south banks of Lower Half Moon Reach on the Hawkesbury River, New South Wales between Lower Portland and Wisemans Ferry. The district was named after a property owned by Jonathan Leet who arrived as a free settler in New South Wales with several other family members aboard the ‘Glen Isla’ in 1857. Formerly known as ‘Bluett’s Bight’, the property was purchased by Leet after the devastating floods of 1867 and over time, the property and the surrounding area took on the name of the owner, Jonathan Leet.
