Long Island

Long Island separates the Hawkesbury River from Sandbrook Inlet on the northern side of Brooklyn. The name appears on Surveyor Govett’s plan of 1829 but it was in use prior to 1824. It appears to have been named for its shape and it was declared a nature reserve in 1911, it is now linked to the mainland by the railway causeway.
