Hawkesbury People & Places Matheson Park is located in Kurrajong, New South Wales and the site is bounded by Comleroy Road, Roxana Road and Mill Road. Reserve No. 56252 was notified for the purpose of Public Recreation on the 13 July 1923. The reserve was possibly named after Harold Charles Matheson, an orchardist of Grose Wold who was elected to represent C Riding in December 1922 and served as President of Colo Shire Council in 1927, 1933, 1941-47 and 1951-57. He received the honour of being awared an MBE for his services to local government by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in June 1954. A parcel of Crown Land managed by Hawkesbury City Council covering an area of 6.5 hectares and bounded by Comleroy Road, Roxana Road and Mill Road. The area is part of the Little Wheeney Creek Catchment area and includes species from the Cumberland Woodland vegetation community. A Police Station and convict camp were located on the Comleroy Road/Roxana Road side during the 1830s when the land was owned by John Howe. There is also evidence of Aboriginal occupation in the park.
