Committee formed to organise the celebration of the centenary of the naming of the town of Richmond by Gov Lachlan Macquarie in 1810.
‘A meeting of the Richmond Centenary Committee was held on Monday night, there were about forty persons present. Several suggestions in the way of sports programmes, &c, were passed and these will be presented to the united meeting to be held next Monday night in the School of Arts. In connection with this meeting, a calico sign has been hung in a conspicuous place in Windsor-street, and by this means it is hoped to convey to the county folk, passing through the town, an intimation that the meeting is to be held.’
