Hawkesbury People & Places We hear that Glossodia is about to be placed on the map and will in future be regarded as a more important centre than hitherto. Mr. W. H. Spinks, of Windsor, is building to the plans and specifications of the Milk Board a most up-to-date dairy and bails at Glossodia, to be occupied by Mr. R. C Green, late of Cattai. This is the first Milk Board dairy license to be granted in the Glossodia district, and we compliment Mr. Spinks on his enterprise. In the establishment of a dairy at this centre a new outlook will be engendered by settlers, and it is hoped ere long that the potentialities of the district may be fully developed. Mr. Spinks has for a great many years interested himself in properties at Glossodia, and this move will be his biggest effort to pioneer the dairying industry there. He has for many years owned the greater part of the Buttsworth estate, which has much history attached to it in connection with the early settlement of the Hawkesbury. The estate is watered by the perpetual flowing Howe’s Creek, and at one time boasted a large number of residents, including a public school. This estate is now known as ‘Spinks-dale,’ and of recent years has undergone a big transformation, now producing an abundance of introduced grasses. Mr. Spinks claims that, Phalaris Tuberosa does particularly well, but rye grasses and subclover in the winter also do well. Kikuku and Rhodes do well in summer. We wish Mr. Spinks the best of luck in his important venture. Adverisement for the sale of the dairy stock of ‘Spinksdale’ owned by ‘Bill Spinks’ on Spinks Road, Glossodia
