The first swimming club was formed in Windsor in 1895 and the following year the Australian mile championship was swum at Windsor in record time. ‘Boy’ Charlton was a student at Hawksbury Agricultural College and he was invincible in local swimming races before going on to set a world record in the 1500 metres at the 1924 Olympic Games.
