Hawkesbury People & Places This field is a venue for sports such as Little Athletics and Soccer as well as other activities such as dog obedience training. The field was named after Bernard Arthur (Bern) Tamplin who died in March 1975 aged 60 years. He was born in 1914 in the Canterbury area of Sydney, NSW to parents Raymond L Tamplin who was an alderman on the local council and Dorothy F Walcot. In January 1938 Bern married Nora Kennedy at Guildford, NSW. During his lifetime Bern had many achievements including the title of light heavyweight wrestling champion in 1943 for Australia and while serving in the RAAF based at Richmond. Bern Tamplin was a Civil Defence Controller (forerunner of the State Emergency Services) for Windsor in the 1960s. A reserve situated on the corner of Laurence and Powell Streets, Hobartville.
