Hawkesbury People & Places The Doctor’s House is located at number 1-3 Thompson Square historic precinct in the town of Windsor, New South Wales. The first building on this site (1819) is believed to have been an inn called The Lord Nelson and the present terrace comprising two adjoining buildings was completed in about 1845. For over a century from 1858 the house was occupied by a series of doctors, the most well known being Dr Thomas Fiaschi of Tizzana near Ebenezer. The last doctor to practice in this building was Dr Walter James Skinner (Bill) who retired in 1992. The Doctor’s House, Thompson Square, Windsor, NSW in the morning light. Cathy McHardy May 2011. Architectural features include the fine fanlights above the entrance doors, the columns to each side, the sandstone flagged verandah and the delicate iron railings. At the height of the 1867 flood the water lapped the balcony on the first floor of the building. A colonial Georgian terrace of two houses. The houses are two stories with an attic and a basement. A first floor balcony facing Thompson Square is cantilevered and has iron lace columns and balustrading. The terrace is constructed of face brick on a sandstone basement with parapetted end walls and has a gabled slate roof. Three chimneys break the roofline. The entrances to the houses have classically influenced doorcases with engaged columns and elliptical fanlights. Multi-pane double hung windows open to the street on the ground floor, french doors are used on the first floor.
