‘Mr G E Woodhill’s handsome villa in Windsor Street is now almost complete and looks tip-top.’
The house is a single storey Edwardian cottage which displays many features of the style such as: face brick walls, narrow timber bay window, timber shingled gable, corner turret with Art Nouveau frieze panelling with an acanthus motif, hipped terracotta tile roof, stucco and brick chimneys, a gable end with a moulded barge board, a panel door with lead light side panels and painted and etched glass.
Internal features of the house are intact with a large central passage divided by elaborately turned columns on pedestals with a fretwork frieze above. All the rooms have original square fireplaces with Victorian ceramic floret patterned tiles, central plaster ceiling roses and an original wall paper frieze remains in the front room.
The house stands on a long rectangular block and retains the original garden layout and garden elements. The place is located in the central shopping area of Richmond.
