A watercourse rising about 4 km NE of Narellan and 7 km west of Minto. It flows generally north for about 70 km until its confluence with the Hawkesbury River, near Windsor. This name is a dual name and is also the indigenous name for this water course. From the Dharug lanuage meaning ‘Mother Place’. (Wiana meaning mother and Matta meaning place).
