Hawkesbury People & Places The former Windsor Congregational Church is located in Kable Street, Windsor, New South Wales. The foundation stone of the Congregational Church was laid by James Fairfax of Sydney in March 1869. Excerpt from the Sydney Morning Herald, 9 January 1869, page 6 advertising the tender for the construction of the Windsor Congregational Church In 1922 the church was disbanded due to a declining congregation and the property was purchased by members of the Masonic Lodge and was known as Lodge Richard Coley. A manse was constructed on the corner of Macquarie and Kable Streets in the early 1880s but has since been demolished. The former church has since been used for a variety of commercial uses including the current (2021) tennant, a restaurant known as the Church Bar. Note the spire is topped by a decorative iron motif. ‘The Windsor Congregational Church has just been renovated and repaired.’ Please make your comment below.
