John Howe and James McGrath were contracted by Gov Macquarie in 1814 to build a new wharf, make a slope from the wharf to the government store, fill Thompson Square and make a sewer for the drainage of the square.
In 1817 Governor Macquarie ordered the construction of a wharf at Windsor to the design of Francis Greenway.
