Yallaroi Parade, Dangar Island

Named after Henry Dangar’s property Yallaroi Station, near Warialda NSW. The road was named in 1921 when the island was first subdivided.

There was a push in the late 1980’s to have Dangar Island changed back to its original name of Mullet Island because of Henry Dangar’s association with the Myall Creek Massacre, but the Geographical Names Board rejected the proposal because the island was named after his son Henry Carey Dangar.
